Born and raised in Glasgow, UK, Ustadha Safia Shahid travelled to Syria in 2003 to study sacred knowledge. She remained there for five years, studying Arabic at the University of Damascus and the Abu Nur Institute.
Ustadha Safia attended classes of several illustrius scholars of our time, such as Shaykh Adnan Darwish and recieved ijazah to teach tajwid from Shaykh Abul Hasan al-Kurdi. She also benefited from the company of great gnostics such as the Shaykh Ahmad al-Habbal and Shaykh Shukri al-Luhafi.
Ustadha Safia studied numerous texts under the tutelage of our teacher Shaykh Muhammad al-Yaqoubi and was gifted with ijazahs in these texts as well as chains of transmission in other major books of hadith. She had the great honour of the company of Shaykh Muhammad exposing here to an abundance of light, knowledge and wisdom. The Shaykh continues to supervise Ustadha Safia's study of advanced texts in sacred knowledge.
